Two More Young Lawyers Join Burton Copeland

In addition to the new internship programme Burton Copeland has also recruited two other new young lawyers as it continues in its expansion.

Trainee Solicitor Sean Reilly joined recently from Tuckers Solicitors. He graduated from the University of Law in Chester 2021 and completed his LPC in 2022 before working for a firm in North Wales. He relocated to Manchester and joined Tuckers in 2023.

Sean who is an avid sports fan and a Celtic Football Club season ticket holder said, “I am really pleased and excited to have moved to work with such an eminent firm as Burton Copeland. The advocacy training I am receiving is excellent and working alongside such experienced Solicitors and caseworkers over the past few weeks has been invaluable”

Compliance Partner Daniel Weed said, “It is great to have Sean as a member of the team, he already has a wealth of experience and fits into the team seamlessly. We feel that Burton Copeland can expand on that experience and grow his talent and abilities even further. We all wish him a long and successful career with us”.

Lucy Fraser also joins Burton Copeland from the Crown Prosecution Service. Lucy, a paralegal, initially completed her undergraduate degree in Policing and Criminal Investigation and then went on to undertake a graduate diploma at the University of law in Manchester. She has also completed her LPC and obtained her master’s degree in 2023.

Lucy spent some working part time for a defence solicitors before joining the Crown Prosecution Service in 2023. Whilst working there she developed her skills working alongside senior lawyers, but it also cemented her desire of working as a defence lawyer.

Lucy said, “I have always been interested in criminal law and am thrilled to have been given the opportunity of working amongst some of the most experienced solicitors in the Northwest, so far, everyday has been different and extremely interesting”.

Lucy is currently undergoing her training to become an Accredited Police Station Advisor and hopes to qualify as a solicitor next year.

Gwyn Lewis said “Lucy is a naturally caring person, the best criminal lawyers care about their clients because their empathy drives them to fight for justice – seeing clients as individuals and not just cases. Lucy has a passion for fairness and justice, whilst she is only at the start of her career, I feel certain that she will be an exceptional criminal lawyer.”

Asked about any further growth of the firm, Louise Straw said, “Burton Copeland has always recognised talent. I believe that our longevity and staff retention is based on the fact that we recruit the best, we give our staff the training and support that they need and reward them appropriately. Many of our employees have been here for more than 25 years, I think that says it all. We are growing and are always on the lookout for the next generation of exceptional individuals in that expansion to ensure that we can meet the needs of our increasing clients”.
