Late summer party at Sixes

The Burton Copeland team recently enjoyed our late summer party at Sixes Cricket at Manchester’s Corn Exchange. As a company, we traditionally hold a full staff party in the summer and at Christmas, and they’re great occasions for bringing the whole team together.

This year, we headed to Sixes, the World’s first immersive cricket experience to try our hand at a bit of “social cricket”. Our group were batting in two nets, with contenders taking to test their batting skills against a series of balls, bowled by a virtual bowler. The aim of the game is to score as high a score as possible by striking the numbered targets around the nets, with scores appearing on the overall leaderboard. With challenge levels from complete beginner to World Class, it was ideal for the whole team and everyone enjoyed selecting their level before stepping into the batting nets to test their batting skills against some of the World’s greatest bowlers! According to the scoreboard, Gwyn was the overall winner (although some suspect foul play!)

We then enjoyed food together before heading to a private games room complete with basketball nets, pool table, football table and karaoke.

The summer party was a double event as it also marked a leaving celebration for Ned Bailey, who is a star cricketer (hence the ‘cricket’ theme of the party). Ned was featured in the Manchester Law Society Messenger when he was selected to play in the India Super Series tournament which took place in Delhi.

It’s fair to say that Ned is universally seen as a superstar at Burton Copeland and the whole team is very sad to see him leave, but we know how much he will enjoy taking a year out and go travelling around Australia and then to the far east. Everyone wished him well and we very much hope he returns to Burton Copeland in the future.
